Guatemala Witchcraft – Chichicastenango Market

Guatemala Witchcraft Chichicastenango Market

Chichicastenango, Guatemala

I have always been intrigued by the weird and wonderful sights of the world. Any time witchcraft or voodoo is mentioned I usually get lured in, not because I believe in it, but instead because these misunderstood beliefs that are demonised by most are actually some of the last remnants of ancient civilisations on the planet. High up in the misty mountains of Guatemala is the small town of Chichicastenango famed for its colourful markets, pre-Colombian ruins and of course witchcraft. Walk anywhere in the village and you will see signs of it, from the ancient inscribed tablets to the ancient symbols that are hidden amongst the Catholic churches. This is one of Central America’s best-kept secrets! Hop ion a chicken bus and venture into the unknown at Chichicastenango, Guatemala.

Kuna Yala, Backpacker Caribbean Paradise, San Blas – Panama

San Blas, Panama

The sand is as white as snow. The water is a clear, turquoise blue, so vibrant that it almost looks like a painting. Swaying palm trees are back dropped by clear skies on a deserted Caribbean island. There is not one tourist or sunglasses salesmen in sight. This is the picture perfect image I see as I emerge from the ocean. It is difficult to express so much beauty in words. As I submerge myself into the ocean below, thousands of colorful fish, sting rays and sharks are visible in all directions.

All this beauty leads me to believe that, if there is a Garden of Eden then, after all of my numerous expeditions exploring the globe, I have quite possibly found it. This is San Blas, in Kuna Yala, Panama. Paradise on earth.

Into the unknown, Darien Panama

darien panama

Darien. Panama

Everyone looks at you as if you were a mad when you mention you are traveling here. The lure of lost tribes, uncharted jungle and unique experiences is why explorers among travelers come here. This is the Darien Panama.
I boarded a small bush plane in Panama City connecting to a town near the Colombian border. The plane flew over turquoise blue waters speckled with small islands before arriving to the shoreline dense with jungle and volcanoes. It felt as if journeying back to a time when the internet didn’t exist and the great unknown lurked all around the globe. Out of the jungle I saw it, a half dirt half concrete landing strip, as we begun to land the chickens and assortment of other animals fled the strip. Read More
