A Travelers Guide to Punjab India

Punjab India

This is a part of India you may not have heard of. A widely misunderstood area tucked away in India’s North West corner on the border with Pakistan is the province of Punjab, home to the Sikh faith. A trip to Punjab almost feels as if you have left India and entered a whole new country. For starters, Punjab is against the cast system making it one of the most accepting regions of the country. It is also home to quite possibly the best food in all of India due to the region being blessed with fertile pastures and a great growing season, many refer to Punjab as the Naan basket of India. This extraordinarily different side of India is addictive and has now brought me back for a third time to try and delve deeper into Punjab’s incredible culture! Welcome to Punjab, India.

My Favourite Books for Travel Inspiration and Trip Planning

Travel Books

I am not sure about you, but once i settle into the routine of being home after long trip abroad, the first thing I do is pick up a few travel books and begin planning my next big trip. Throughout the years I’ve built my travel book collection up including pictorial books, travel guides, trip idea books, and some area-specific books to inspire me. Many of these travel books have given me the knowledge I needed to become a successful travel blogger and design the epic adventures you can see right here on Uncharted backpacker. Check out my list of my favourite travel books to inspire your inner wanderlust! Read More

Yemen Travel Video

Yemen Travel Video

Yemen Travel Video

This year the team at Uncharted Backpacker visited the war torn nation of Yemen to promote future tourism and hope for this absolutely stunning nation. Despite the war raging between the different political states and foreign influences, Yemen’s people prevail and are optimistic that when the war is over, tourism will return. Contrary to what the media says we first hand witnessed that Yemen’s Historical and UNESCO sights have not been destroyed, in fact they sit frozen in time awaiting for the war to end just like the nations people do. This video is dedicated to the preservation of Yemen’s cultural and historical sights, but most of all to bring awareness to the struggles countless innocent people are facing amidst the war.

Into the Void – Traveling to the Most Remote Places on Earth

Remote Destinations

When it comes to travel I can without a doubt say, that I travel a lot. Meeting new people is a common occurrence for me and I am often asked: “where is your favorite destination”. This is a hard question as I have found something I like in every country I have been to. An easier answer is my favourite places to travel are the hardest ones to get to, the most remote corners of the planet. Here life is tough, often nomadic or tribal, based on survival rather than living. The environments are extreme, it can be very technical and travel here can require a lot of planning but it is by far the most rewarding kind of travel I have ever encountered. So, if you’re ready, lace your boots up and pack your bag and let’s go to the most remote corners of the planet! Read More
