Romantic Iceland Travel
When I think of Iceland I think of Vikings, big burly bad asses roaming the land with swords, ready to ward off anyone who wishes to stand in their way. When we got there we quickly realised how sweet and romantic it really is. The chilly weather sets the tone for cuddling up at night under the northern lights, the luxurious lagoons throughout the country make everyday a spa day, and the pristine nature means you are always surrounded by beauty. If you’re looking for a romantic destination that’s different from the typical “tropical hideaway” then we highly encourage you to come to Iceland and experience this winter wonderland for yourselves. You won’t be disappointed. Read More
Iceland, West Fjords
How I have longed for a place like this. The mountains here tell stories long forgotten. Such beauty masked and hidden deep in Fjords only reachable until recently. Villages caught in a time vault and a rugged wilderness of which much has never been explored. This is the Iceland we all look for but never find. The few that manage to make it here will tell you, this is their favourite part of the land of Fire and Ice. Being the oldest region in Iceland, and the West Fjords are clouded in a shroud of mystery and adventure. Whether it’s the awe-inspiring landscapes, Fjords filled with sea monster folk legends, or the people who have kept their Icelandic culture more so than anywhere on the island, the West Fjords are a traveller’s paradise. Welcome to the West Fjords of Iceland, off the beaten track!
Budget Iceland Tips
If you’re traveling here then you must be aware that it gets pricey FAST. One of the locals was kind enough to explain the situation to us; “We as Vikings have gotten lazy, we don’t go to other countries to rob them. But not to worry, we have found tips to stretch your dollar so you can enjoy more and spend less! Read More
Iceland is often referred to as “The land of fire and ice” or “The land of dark and light”, but as I saw it Iceland is an area of all kinds of insane contrasts and geological wonders. The minute you leave the airport you will find yourself glued to the window as you wait to see if an alien will pop out of the Martian landscape you’re starring at in disbelief. We loved driving across this country and watching how quickly and dramatically the land could change, coming from an area where all we see are wheat fields and oil rigs, we were certainly never bored of Iceland’s intense scenery.
The road is long and as the hours drift by, my mind tries to comprehend the amazing journey i am on. Black sand beaches, colourful quaint villages, epic mountains dotted with volcanoes, lagoons filled with icebergs, and hills with dive bombing puffins. These are all things you will see along Iceland’s Southern road. Iceland’s Southern route is a traveller’s dream ticking off all the must see in this small but diverse region. At many of the pit stops I quickly pull my camera out as usual, but when I see such natural beauty I find myself lost in it and unable to focus on taking the photo. To sum it up into one word Southern Iceland is “Breathtaking” and as a travel photographer a dream come true! Read More
